Our first week of Humber PR ended with an assignment to write a short autobiography. My piece was very rough but I think the message says a lot about me, so I wanted to share it here.ldn_trafalgar
I’d wanted to live in London since I was 16 years old. At 26, I accomplished that goal.

It began when my twin brother brought home a copy of the Oasis album, What’s the Story Morning Glory. The band was English, and it inspired an intense interest in the United Kingdom. I wanted to experience life at its epicentre, in the city of London.

After completing my undergraduate studies in Toronto, I remained in the city and found a job in my field. Working in a professional occupation for the first time, I could finance my first trip to Europe. Visiting London was my priority. Now you may think that because I’d been building this city up in my head for many years, I was bound to be disappointed. But central London was just as I’d imagined it; busy winding streets buzzing with culture.

I returned to Toronto, but my dream had been revitalized. I was now even more determined to experience life as a London resident for a minimum of one year.

This goal came to fruition in August 2008, when I arrived in London with no job, no flat and no friends. Despite those circumstanced, I quickly overcame those hurdles and fell in love with the city of London repeatedly over the course of the year.

Accomplishing a goal that I’ve held for 10 years was emplowering. Now I know I can do anything I put my mind to. I feel unstoppable.
