Absolut vodka has long been admired for its visual branding. After decades spent focusing on print campaigns, the company has now begun to explore digital communications. It has collaborated on two digital films; a Spike Jonze short entitled I’m Here, and NY-Z, a documentary featuring Jay-Z.
Absolut has a distinguished history of artistic collaboration, beginning with Andy Warhol in 1985. Since then it has continued to recognize the varied talents of contemporary artists.
I found one ad attributed to Jeff Koons, although this may have been created by a fan.
The limited-edition Absolut Vancouver bottle was designed by Canadian designer Douglas Fraser.
And the classic ad photography was done by Steven Bronstein. These conjure up fond memories of the ’90s spent reading my parents’ GQ and Glamour magazines
And just what inspired that iconic shape? Medicine bottles mass-produced in the company’s native Sweden.
